My name is Martino Simcik Arese. I’m a football researcher, writer, producer and presenter whose work focuses on fandom and supporter culture.

Through football, I explore communities around the world, looking at the ways sport reflects identity, history, politics and place. 

 

While football is at the centre of my work, my wider interests and my approach also apply across different sports and cultures.

 

I speak English, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian, and have worked all over the world, building relationships with supporters, clubs and communities that allow me to approach stories from the inside rather than as an outsider looking in.
